A bit of history…
The first Arverne king, Luern, famous for his wealth and generosity, reigned in Gaul in the 2nd century B.C. This pan-Celtic name, which means “fox,” is found in Breton as louarn, in Welsh as llywarn, and in Old Irish as loarn.
To gain the favor of the multitude, he would be transported on a chariot through the countryside and threw gold and silver to the myriad of Celts who followed him.
He would enclose a twelve stade square, where he filled vats with high-priced drinks. He prepared such quantities of food that for several days it was permitted for those who wanted to enter the enclosure to taste these dishes, which were always available.
